AI vampires.
Grab AI and you'll have a job. That's the good news. The side effects are a thousand product ideas and a sleep schedule coming apart at the seams. I should know.
The signal in the sky is the spark, not the bat. The operator on the roof answers it at 2am.
A fortnight ago Marc Andreessen sat with Joe Rogan and gave Silicon Valley a new word. Not for the people AI replaces. For the people it doesn't.
“The opportunity cost of going to sleep is too high, because if you go to sleep, you won't be with your 20 AI coding agents.”
Marc Andreessen on The Joe Rogan Experience #2501. He calls them AI vampires: the best coders aren't out of work, they're up all night. Watch on YouTube →
The doommongers had a clean story: AI writes code, coders lose their jobs. The opposite happened. The best ones now run twenty agents at once and ship twenty times the work. Their problem isn't redundancy. It's that going to bed costs too much.
Why your job is probably safe (for grownups)
Here's what the headline misses. The trade isn't about code. It's about judgment. An agent hands you a thousand ideas; it won't tell you which one is a business. That call is the whole job now, and it's the thing twenty-five years buys you that a model can't. Grab AI and you keep your seat. That's the bet behind the client + AI programme: I install the workflows, the client keeps the judgment.
The side effects are real. I have them.
Fifty years in Dubai and I'm turning into one. It started with the wake-up time. Six, then five, then four. Lately sometimes two. My token limit used to lock me out of Claude for a few hours a day, so I'd go and talk to people. Then at 2am it would reset and I'd go straight back to work.
The loop has a shape. Work until I can't think. Talk to people. Come back with ten product ideas and owe myself a two-hour teardown to find the real one. Last night every agent was misconfigured; two hours just to restack before any actual work. Today I drove to Abu Dhabi for one of the last Mac Studios in the UAE, sat up getting it production-ready, and now run five or six models on it. On X the Valley crowd post that they haven't been outside in weeks. I read it at 2am and recognise every word.
The opportunity is real and the work is safe for anyone who brings judgment. It will also eat your sleep. Andreessen named it. I'm confirming it from the inside.
Grab the upside. Keep the sleep schedule.
The Articulate Marketing Engine Pilot installs six AI workflows that close the gap between your ad click and your closed deal. Eight weeks. On your stack. Yours to keep. I do the 2am part so you don't have to.
